New Photo Gallery OnlinePAGOSA SPRINGS SYMPHONIC BANDMusic Boosters recently established the new Pagosa Springs Symphonic Band to bring quality band performances to the community and to help promote band programs in the schools. Under the volunteer direction of Bill Gottschalk and Larry Baisdon, both retired professional band directors, the band dazzled audiences during its debut performance at Music Boosters winter holiday production “Hollydaze” in December 2011. Members of the Symphonic Band will serve to accompany Music Boosters musical theater productions and will also perform special band concerts. In keeping with Music Boosters mission to promote arts in the schools, their first all-band concert on March 24, entitled “Band-o-rama” will include performances by students from local junior high school and high school bands. “We are absolutely committed to making sure the arts not only survive, but thrive in our community,” says Johnson. “We feel it is imperative to make sure our young people are exposed to the many wonderful opportunities the arts afford. By allowing them to learn through performance, these young people take the arts with them throughout their lives. They are personally enriched by the experience and bring joy to others as well.” The band rehearses on Monday evenings from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the high school band hall on 8th street.
